This sculpture by Elisa Arimany is an abstract monument called Camins. It was created in 1972 and its style is contemporaneous. It is made with stones and iron. This piece is formed by 4 structures of iron that symbolize the four bars of the Catalan Flag. The stones next to it represent the industrial chimneys of Terrassa. This abstract sculpture may appear different to different people due to it is strangeness. This is the beautyl of abstract; it holds a wide range of meanings and anyone can understand its meaning in a different way. Despite all the points of view, this sculpture mainly represents the Catalanism of Terrassa.

Homelessness

Nowadays there are a lot of people who have not roof where they can sleep. They spend nights at the street getting cold. Most of them can’t buy or rent a house but they can’t buy food to eat either.

This problem is getting worse, unemployment is getting bigger and homelessness is increasing. A lot of business are disappearing because there is not money to pay employees and this leads to homelessness.

From my point of view, it is a very important problem because they are dying in the street and nobody helps them. If I were a politician, I would try to create more societies to help that people. I would spend some money on this problem because I strongly believe that it has to stop and I would like homelessness could eradicate someday.

Chicago

Chicago is the third most populous city in the United States. It is located in the state of Illinois. It is a special city because there a lot of attractions and it is plenty of things to see.

This city is a very good one to visit, the problem is that in summer it is very hot and in winter it is very cold, but it is always beautiful. People can get there by plane, there is the Chicago O’Hare International Airport and the Chicago Midway International Airport near the centre of the city. Then people can use Go Airport Express to get to Chicago. Visitors can get there by car or train.

The best place to stay is the centre of the city of the Chicago Loop neighbourhood, because they are touristic areas, as a result people can save time and money. Once there, the best places to visit are some parks like the Navy Pier, the Grant Park or the Millennium Park. Other things visitors visit are the skyscrapers like the Willis Tower or the John Hancock Centre. They also go shopping in the Magnificent Mile. Moreover, there is a lot of museums, cinemas and theatres and people use to go to this places.

If this city is visited in summer take light clothes because it is very hot, but if it is in winter take anorak and a lot of clothes because it is very cold. The most important to take when people visit Chicago are comfortable footwear because it is supposed to walk a lot.

THE CAMINO DE SANTIAGO

Last month I walked the Camino de Santiago with my family. On the first day we started walking along the path when we arrived there by bus. We walked hours until we arrived at the hostel. We were exhausted and very tired so we asked for our room to go to have a rest. When we did it they told us that we had to share a room with a Chinese family. They were very friendly and we talked with them a lot. Then we decided to do the Camino de Santiago with them.

On the second day we went to climb a mountain. It was a very high one and when we had been walking for 2 hours we decided to stop and rest. While we were resting, a goat started to chase my Dad. It was so funny and all my family and the Chinese one laughed a lot. Then, the night started to get up and we decided to sleep in a tent.

When we woke up on the third day we packed our things and left the mountain. While we were going down it started to rain heavily. I think it was funny because we got dirty a lot and it is an experience I won’t forget. It was raining for an hour and then an amazing rainbow came out and we stopped to watch it because it was really big and spectacular.

This holiday has been my favourite one. I enjoyed it a lot and I made new friends. It was a very nice experience and I’d like to go to other similar places in the future.

Coming home for Christmas

Two old teddy bears are returning home and the video show all the journey of them in the airport. First they are in the plane, when it land they go throw the Heathrow airport in London, they go to the baggage reclaim to take his luggage. Then they buy some souvenirs, unfortunately the old bear throw some of them to the floor. They finally are an elderly couple, who have come to London to get together with their family. The video ends with that couple hugging their grandchildren and with the sentence "Coming home, the best gift of all.

This St. Patrick day has been a great day in my school. We celebrated like a special event and I have never done it before.

People could win a coin if they wore some green clothes, then they took a photo with a hat of a leprechaun.

At the break, there has been a concert at school, in which some students played their instruments.

All school had fun with St. Patrick day and I hope next year we will do the same.

LETTER FROM NELSON MANDELA TO WINNIE

Dear, Winnie

I’m not too bad, but I miss you a lot.

They don’t give us long trousers and I’m trying to get them. Only white people are allowed to wear long trousers and the black people have cold.

I can’t fight here at prison like before, but at least I want respect where I’m living. Now you have the responsibility, to lead our people to the victory.

Take care of our daughters and write me as soon as possible.

I have spent a very nice holiday in Ireland.

I have visited the Cliffs of Moher, the Christ Church College, and a lot of other amazing monuments.

I have eaten in Dax Restaurant and I recommend it a lot, the food was excellent and the waiters and waitresses very polite and friendly.

The next holiday I’m going to Australia and I will visit the Great Barrier Reef.

DESCRIPTION OF A JOB

My cousin Nigel has got a hard work.

He works for an American construction company.

He is an underwater construction worker.

At the moment he is in Florida. He is helping to build a bridge in Miami.

In this photo, he is checking his diving equipment.

Next year, he is travelling to Japan because he is repairing a bridge there.

From my point of view his work is important and amazing but it is also dangerous. 

MY PLANS FOR THIS WEEK

I am going to school on Thursday.

I am going to a English class on Friday.

I am watching a waterpolo match on Saturday.

I am playing waterpolo on Sunday.

MY FREE TIME

My name is Iker. I'm from Catalonia in Spain. After school, if I have time, I play games on my mobile phone or I watch Naruto Shippuden. Then I go to the swimming pool to train waterpolo.

In the evening I have a shower in the sport centre and I come back home with my bike.

At home I watch TV with my young brother. We also watch The Detective Conan, it is a anime from Japan. It is very good.

At weekend, I usually play with my brothers, I sometimes meet my friends and at the evening I go walk with my family and my dog. On Saturday, I sometimes go to the shopping centre with my family and we eat at a restaurant or free buffet.

On Sunday, I often play waterpolo, after the match I play with my waterpolo mates.

At home I play video games or I watch TV.

This is that I do on my free time. I like it.

MY FAVOURITE RESTAURANT

My favourite restaurant is called Wok You. It is a Chinese free buffet restaurant. You can find this restaurant in Rubi, Barcelona and other cities. My family and I don't often go there, but when we go I eat a lot of food.

In this restaurant there is a lot of food like fried potatoes and fried chicken.

It also serves lettuce and tomatoes, there also is sushi, but I don't like it.

There are a lot of desserts at Wok You. I sometimes eat ice cream, but other times I eat yoghurt and sweets.

DESCRIBING MY HOME

I live in a flat in Terrassa. I live there with my parents, my two brothers and my dog.

Our flat has got two bedrooms, my brothers and I share a bedroom.

Our flat has got one bathroom. Our flat has also a kitchen and a very big living room.

We eat in the living room because there isn't a dining room.

There is a big terrace. There isn't a balcony.

The walls of this room are blue. The floor is brown.

There are two wooden chairs, six paintings, four towels, two doors and two cushions.

There is a bed, a bedside table and a big windows.

I don't like this bedroom, I think it's very ugly. 

DESCRIBING A PHOTO

In this photo, I'm with my friends Pol and Gerard. We are in the swimming pool of Marbella. It's warm, I'm not out but I know it.

We are taking a photo because we got the 3rd place in the championship of Marbella.

I'm in the middle of the photo, I'm wearing a water polo hat, trunks and flip flops, Gerard is on my right and Pol on my left, they are wearing the same clothes as me.

MY PERFECT SCHOOL

My school's name is IES Good Work. It is big, green and modern. It has a gym, a lot of classrooms, some swimming pools. There are few students here and about 5 teachers.

I study maths, English, science and technology here. My favourite subject is maths. I don't like science. I love break time.

Lessons are 25 minutes long and we have one teacher for all subjects.

I wish there was an escalator or even a roller coaster.

I like my school.

MY WEEKEND

My name is Iker, I live in Terrassa (Catalonia), I go to IES Torre del Palau.

My favorite days are the weekend, because on Saturdays I wake up, I have a shower. I do some of my homework, I go to my grandparents' home and I have lunch there. Then I go to the swimming pool to watch a water polo match with my friends. When the match finishes, we usually play football. I go home and I go to walk the dog with my family. When we are at home we have dinner a hot dog, we watch TV and we go to sleep.

On Sunday I wake up, I go to play a water polo match, then I have a shower and I go home, I eat lunch, when I finish I watch TV and I do my homework. Sometimes I go to the cinema, I walk the dog and I have dinner, I watch TV and I go to sleep.

That is what I always do at the weekends.
